Fusion Group’s environmental mission is to minimise the amount of polymer consumed in our operations and to achieve a target of ‘zero waste to landfill’.
We relentlessly focus on eliminating waste throughout our manufacturing processes using lean methodologies.
Value engineering techniques are applied to tooling and product design to minimise polymer requirements whilst maintaining compliance with international approvals and accreditations.
In packaging, Fusion Group are making huge strides in reducing the use of single use plastics with the introduction of product bags that have 30% recycled content. We have also reduced the grade (thickness) of the plastic used. All banding has been eliminated and we are researching sustainable alternatives to plastic wrap.
An environmental behavioral step change has been achieved through a number of simple but effective measures. Recycling stations have replaced traditional waste bins in offices; lighting in public spaces is controlled by PIRs; and, inverters have been installed on injection moulding machines to save energy.
Fusion UK sites are now being supplied with zero carbon, 100% renewable electricity. We are now being powered by electricity that is sourced solely from zero carbon, 100% renewable sources, Solar, Wind and Hydro.
