Lorna Phillips, celebrating 20 years with Fusion

All at Fusion would like to say a big congratulations to Lorna Phillips for completing 20 years’ service with the business on 27/01/2023. 27-01-2023

Lorna joined Fusion on 27/01/2003 as a Payroll Assistant, the original job advert from the newspaper can be found in the images below! She has only held one role with Fusion over the last 20 years, but this has grown and developed over time.

Lorna’s current role is Payroll and Benefits Manager.  She arguably has the most important role within the business as she ensures that we all get paid, and on time…  People believe she just has the task of pressing the ‘magic’ pay button once a month but there is much more to her role than just that!  Lorna is also responsible for the employee benefits that the company offers to its employees.

The thing that Lorna has enjoyed most throughout the last 20 years has been the people she’s met and the fun she has had along the way.  Another highlight was becoming 2019 Fusion Ping Pong Champion, something she is extremely proud of and who knows, there may still be time to represent GB at the 2024 Olympics?

In 2019 and 2020 Lorna was one of the proud winners of the AVK UK Expect Award for ‘Customer Service’.  The AVK Expect awards acknowledge the contribution of each employee and recognise those individuals whose commitment, dedication and performance in their respective roles has been outstanding.

“When I’m not at work my life revolves around football with my 2 boys, so it’s a good job that I enjoy it too!”
“Something that I’ve always wanted to learn to do is to play the piano. Second to that would be how to win the lottery.”

Lorna’s favourite place is New York City, which she says is;

“the most amazing city! I think I only slept for about 4 hours during the 4 days we were there, but I saw and did so much!”

Another one of her favourites for a totally different reason is Saariselka in Lapland!

“This is the most magical place for both adults and kids.”

The three words that Lorna believes describe her best (actually turned out to be 5), are

“super intelligent, hilariously funny and modest!”

Her colleagues and friends will be the best judge of whether that is true or not.

Lorna’s mantra for life is

“anything is possible.”

20 years with the same employer is a fantastic achievement! We would like to say a big congratulations and well done to Lorna for her service to Fusion.
