Fusion sponsors Welding Championship at Vann & Miljø 2026
Strengthening skills, partnerships, and the future of the water industry 23-04-2026
Vann & Miljø 2026 Water and Environment Conference is one of Norway's largest conferences within water and environmental engineering with an emphasis on strengthening partnerships in the Norwegian water industry. Held biennially and organised by AVK Norway and Pipelife Norway, the event brings together industry leaders with a shared goal: improving efficiency and collaboration across the construction of critical infrastructure.
A key highlight of the conference was the Welding Championship, which Fusion was proud to be a sponsor of. Organised by AVK Norway, Pipelife Norway and the Training Office for Civil Engineering and Mining (OKAB), the Welding Championship gives three teams of two apprentices a chance to showcase their electrofusion welding skills by building a complex polyethylene rig.
Electrofusion welding is a skill where accuracy and understanding of materials and methods are crucial. In the qualification round, six teams (of two) apprentices received both practical training and competition experience before three teams progressed to the final, held as part of the official conference program.

In front of an audience of more than 350 attendees, the finalists went head-to-head. The competition highlighted not only technical precision and adherence to best practice electrofusion welding, but also the professionalism and pride of the next generation entering the industry.
The winning team - Chris Andre Eriksen Hotvedt and Alexander Kongshaug of H&K Sandnes AS - delivered an outstanding performance to secure first place.
